Cathay Pacific is set to reconnect Hong Kong with Adelaide, launching a thrice-weekly winter seasonal service starting November 11, 2025.

This move marks the airline’s return to the South Australian capital, strengthening its Southwest Pacific network.

Adelaide becomes Cathay Pacific’s eighth passenger destination in the region, joining year-round services to Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, alongside seasonal flights to Cairns and Christchurch.

Cathay Pacific’s Adelaide Connection

The airline’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, expressed excitement about the resumed route. “Reconnecting our Hong Kong hub with Adelaide is a significant milestone,” she said.

“This vibrant city holds a special place for us, as we first launched passenger flights here in 1992. Two years later, our cadet pilots began training at Flight Training Adelaide, marking over 30 years of partnership. We’re thrilled to bring back this route, offering our customers more travel options.”

The Hong Kong-Adelaide flights will operate on Airbus A350-900 aircraft, known for their comfort and modern design. Passengers can enjoy fully flat beds in Business class, spacious Premium Economy seats, and comfortable Economy cabins.

This setup ensures a pleasant journey, whether travelers are heading to Adelaide for business, leisure, or to visit loved ones.

Increased Southwest Pacific Presence

Cathay Pacific’s return to Adelaide boosts its Southwest Pacific presence, with nearly 90 weekly return flights across eight destinations during the peak winter season.

This expanded schedule provides flexibility for customers traveling between Hong Kong, the Southwest Pacific, and beyond.

Lau emphasized the airline’s commitment to exceptional service, stating, “We look forward to welcoming passengers onboard to experience Cathay Pacific’s signature hospitality.”

Beyond passenger travel, the new Adelaide service enhances cargo options. The A350-900’s belly capacity complements Cathay Cargo’s two weekly freighter flights to the region, supporting businesses with efficient transport solutions.

Growth of Cathay Group

This year, Cathay Pacific and its low-cost sister airline, HK Express, are expanding rapidly. Together, they’re adding 16 new destinations to their global network, with plans to reach 100 passenger destinations worldwide by mid-2025.

In 2025 alone, Cathay Pacific has launched flights to Hyderabad, Dallas, and Urumqi. Upcoming routes include Rome (June 5), Munich (June 16), Brussels (August 3), and now Adelaide.

Adelaide’s reintroduction reflects Cathay Pacific’s focus on growing its global reach while strengthening ties with key markets.
