Software Update: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Now Supports Blood Pressure and ECG in India
In a recent development, Samsung has rolled out a compact yet impactful update for its Galaxy Watch 4 series in India. The update, labeled version R870XXU1HWL1/R870OXM1HWL3, comes in at a modest 11.83MB but brings significant additions to health monitoring capabilities.
The key enhancements include the introduction of Blood Pressure and ECG (electrocardiogram) functionalities for users of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic in India. To unlock these features, users are required to install the Samsung Health Monitor App on both their smartphones and Galaxy Watch 4 devices.
Upon completing the installation, users are prompted to read through warnings, acknowledge benefits, and grant necessary permissions. The ECG function becomes readily accessible, presenting heart health data with results categorized as Sinus Rhythm, Atrial Fibrillation, Inconclusive, and Poor Recording.
For the Blood Pressure function, an additional step involves calibrating the watch with a cuff-based blood pressure monitor. Once calibrated, the Samsung Health Monitor on the Galaxy Watch successfully measures blood pressure, displaying results for Systolic blood pressure, Diastolic blood pressure, and Pulse (heart rate) on both the Galaxy Watch and the paired Galaxy phone.
