Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra in Europe

This week, Xiaomi made waves at the Mobile World Congress 2024 with the grand unveiling of its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra. However, the announcement came with a surprising twist as the prices for the European variants left many scratching their heads.

The European edition of the Xiaomi 14, mirroring its Chinese counterpart in hardware specifications, debuts at a starting price of 999 euros (about 7,780 yuan), a stark contrast to its 3,999 yuan price tag in China.

Similarly, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra European (Review), featuring identical hardware but lacking the new GSR battery technology found in the Chinese version, is priced at 1,499 euros (about 11,670 RMB). In comparison, the Chinese variant, equipped with an advanced battery, costs 6,999 yuan.

Notably, the absence of the cutting-edge GSR battery in the international version of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (New 5300mAh in China; old 5000mAh in Europe) raises questions about Xiaomi’s decision-making process, with factors such as cost, supply chain limitations, and certification requirements speculated as potential reasons for the omission.

Despite these discrepancies, Xiaomi enthusiasts across Europe, India, Southeast Asia, and beyond can anticipate the availability of both devices in early March. As consumers eagerly await their chance to experience Xiaomi’s latest innovations, the company’s strategic pricing and feature choices continue to fuel discussions within the tech community.
